Dr David Kenee
Dr. Kenee is a 1994 graduate of the University of the North Carolina School of Dentistry. Upon completion, he then was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Following an initial tour in Memphis, TN, he spent four years in Yokosuka, Japan, getting his fill of sushi. He pursued specialty training in Bethesda, MD at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, earning a Certificate in Endodontics in 2001. His final duty station was with the Marines at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He finished his Naval career as a Lieutenant Commander and veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having been decorated, among others, with the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), and Global War on Terrorism. Dr. Kenee was extended an invitation to join Dr. McKearney in 2003, and the following year they partnered to become Valley Endodontics. Quickly integrating himself into the dental community of the Valley, Dr. Kenee volunteers his time and talent at the H/R Free Clinic and as a member of the Dental Trauma Team for Sentara Healthcare. In 2006 he completed a challenging and rewarding five-year journey to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He vigorously maintains his current knowledge of the discipline, attending numerous continuing education courses and serving as an editor for the Journal of Endodontics. He facilitates an endodontic study club for area general dentists and actively assists at the Naval endodontics residency program.
Dr. Kenee is a member of the following professional organizations:
American Board of Endodontics, Diplomate
American Association of Endodontists
American Dental Association

Dr. Kenee is a native of York, PA, where he developed a lifelong love of Penn State football and the Baltimore Orioles. He shifted his allegiance, though, to the ACC when he choose to attend Duke University. Despite a clash of blues (Duke/UNC), his loyalty to Duke Blue was never a question. A summer in York between college and dental school proved a wise move as he met his wife, Carolyn. Together they navigated dental school, 10 years in the Navy and the decision to move to Harrisonburg. Thrilled to be in the Valley due to its friendly people, vibrant communities and beautiful landscape, they plan to stay forever. Adding children in Japan, MD, and finally RMH, they now count their brood at three boys and one girl. Dr. Kenee spends his time hunting, fishing and golfing when not involved with family activities. The Kenees are members of Blessed Sacrament Church, and support various philanthropic groups including a scholarship they established to provide career counseling for area youths. He strives to convince people that root canals are NOT the evil undertaking that so many believe, and daily, attempts to achieve this by delivering the highest quality of endodontic therapy in a comfortable, painfree setting.
